March 29th we arrive in Bali at 3:15 PM. Just in time for sunset! You will love the drive from the Denpasar airport as we pass through the rice terraces and jungle to the small village of Ubud. We will have our first dinner together outdoor on the terrace with a beautiful view. From March 29th – April 2nd, our home will be Ubud. Our villa style hotel has lovely infinity pools with beautiful views of the rice terraces, jungle and the Ayung River (which you can also sign up for white water rafting). You will love Ubud! Our days will be filled with sun, walks, shopping, visiting temples and enjoying the wildlife. Our hotel in Ubud will be located near the Monkey Forest of Padangtegal – a sacred Balinese Hindu site. It is a beautiful place to take a stroll and watch the amusing monkeys up close. While there we can also visit the Elephant Safari Park in Taro for a day with the elephants. Acclaimed as the World’s Best Elephant Park. The experience of sitting high atop an elephant in a teak wood chair, through the cool jungle of Taro, is an experience you’ll never forget. If you are up for more animal adventure we could visit the Bali Safari & Marine
Park it is fantastic. There you can have your picture taken with a baby Orangutan. Priceless! Wonderful photos to share with your friends and family.
Ubud is an artisan village nestled in the northern jungle area of Bali. In the 70’s it was a haven for the French and European artists to congregate and live to create beauty. There are many art shops in Ubud which offer beautiful batik paintings
at a very reasonable price. From our villa you can wake up early and be escorted on a morning trek to the nearby rice field. You will be able to see the farmers walking their ducks (guard ducks) out to the rice terraces. In Ubud they also will be having colorful festivals for every single god that they worship, funerals, birthdays, mornings, evenings and sunsets! It is not uncommon to find
yourself in the middle of a colorful parade celebrating something! We will be in this scenic wonderland for 4 nights and then
on April 2nd we head south to the famous Nusa Dua Beaches, which are located on the most southern tip of Bali. The next 5 nights we will spend in Nusa Dua at the Nusa Dua Beach Resort located right on the Pacific Ocean, with its beautiful white sandy beaches. The resort is located in lush tropical gardens and the 5-star hotel and spa features 3 outdoor pools and a private beach. It is an unbelievable hotel and will spoil you for any other. The Nusa Dua Beach recently received a major WOW renovation that filled it with true traditional Balinese furnishings. In the pricing, you have an option of upgrading to Pam’s favorite rooms that are larger, on the ground floor and open up to the Lagoon Pool and the beach. It is well worth it! The days will be as filled or as leisurely as you like. The spa here is amazing and very economical. If economical is still too much, there are lots of opportunities for beach massage! Pamper yourself and enjoy! We will have access to our own personal driver who has been accompanying Pam for 20 years and is a true friend. At night you can walk the grounds and enjoy all of the different activates such as their famous Beach BBQ and Fire Dance. The Nusa Dua hotel also has the Budaya Cultural Theatre which offers two different classic dance performances. One is the Balinese Legong Dance and the other is the Kecak Dance. The Nusa Dua has several restaurants, if you are up for a stroll under the stars along the beach you can also enjoy a wonderful dinner at many of the oceanfront restaurants. Also in Nusa Dua, you can try all different water sports, including parasailing, snorkeling, scuba diving, or just a fun boat ride in a glass bottom boat.
This year we would also like to add a fishing adventure for those of you that are interested. One of our days in Nusa Dua we will travel to the Kuta Beach, which will include lots of shopping. Once we get there things are very, very economical! Pam can help you with bartering if necessary. There are great deals on beautiful handcrafted items. Kuta Beach is also one of the greatest surfing destinations in the world and home to an old surfer community which is nearby. After shopping we can head to the beach to cool off, maybe give surfing a try or die laughing while one of us try it! We will also be visiting the Celuk silver village, where they are world known for their handcrafted Balinese jewelry. Pam’s favorite shop is Suarti Silver. She has actually met Ms. Suarti and has been invited to her Ubud home. Her handcrafted silver jewelry is sold around the world. I know how you gals love your jewelry! Another favorite of Pam’s is taking a sunset tour to Tanah Lot (temple in the Sea). If you are into photography you will really enjoy this!
Optional pre-stay would depart Spokane March 25th and arrive in Seattle during the early morning hours of March 26th.
