You depart Seattle just after midnight on Sunday April 22, you need to arrive in Seattle the evening of Sat. April 21. Wed. April 24th we arrive in Bali at 3:15 PM. Just in time for sunset! You will love the drive from the Denpasar airport as we pass through the rice terraces and jungle to the village of Ubud. We will have our first dinner together outdoor on the terrace with a beautiful view.
From April 24 – April 28th, Ubud will be our home. Ubud is an artisan village nestled in the northern jungle area of Bali where artists gather. Our villa style hotel has lovely infinity pools with beautiful views of the rice terraces, jungle and the Ayung River (which you can also sign up for white water rafting). You will love Ubud! Our days will be filled with sun, walks, shopping, visiting temples and enjoying the wildlife. Our villa in Ubud will be located near the Monkey Forest of Padangtegal – a sacred Balinese Hindu site. It is a beautiful place to take a stroll and watch the amusing monkeys up close. While there we can also visit the Elephant Safari Park in Taro for a day with the elephants. Acclaimed as the World’s Best Elephant Park. The experience of sitting high atop an elephant in a teak wood chair, through the cool jungle of Taro, is an experience you’ll never forget. Also, when in Ubud, we will be visiting the Satria Coffee Plantation, located high in the mountains near Ubud. Pam discovered it last year and can’t wait to return. Coffee & tea tasting area with incredible views. They cultivate vanilla, cocoa, cinnamon & ginger to name a few. You will want to try the famous Luwalk coffee. You might remember the name from Jack Nicholson’s movie the Bucket List. One morning you can get up early for your morning trek near the rice fields. You will be able to see the farmers walking their ducks (guard ducks) out to the rice terraces. Be prepared because in the village of Ubud it is not uncommon to find yourself in the middle of one of their colorful festivals or parades for all their different spiritual celebrations. Great photos! We will be in this scenic wonderland for 4 nights.
April 28th we will leave Ubud by private transfer south to Seminyak. Our stay there will be for two nights April 28 – April 30th. This upscale, cosmopolitan coastal village boasts some of the most glorious beaches in Bali. Seminyak has legendary sunsets and you will enjoy the tranquil beauty, and marvel at Balinese ceremonies on the beach, complete with gamelan players and offerings to the gods. Of course, don’t let the smooth sands and intricate cultural experiences distract you from spas and shopping! Sophisticated spas and high-end boutiques will entice you away from the waterfront—for a short time, anyway. There is also some of the best nightlife in Bali located in Seminyak. We might want to check out the Potato Head Beach Club or the Ku De Ta Bali, both are perfect venues for a fun mixture of dining and partying on their large beachfront lawns!
April 30th we will travel south by private transfer to the white sandy beaches of Nusa Dua. Where we will stay at Pam’s favorite spot the Nusa Dua Resort & Spa. Located right on the Pacific Ocean. The resort is located in lush tropical gardens and the 5-star hotel and spa features 3 outdoor pools and a private beach. It is an unbelievable hotel and will spoil you for any other. The Nusa Dua Beach recently received a major WOW renovation that filled it with true traditional Balinese furnishings. In the pricing, you have an option of upgrading to Pam’s favorite rooms that are larger, on the ground floor and open up to the Lagoon
Pool and the beach. It is well worth it! The days will be as filled or as leisurely as you like. The spa here is amazing and very economical. If economical is still too much, there are lots of opportunities for beach massage! Pamper yourself and enjoy! Throughout our trip we will have access to our own personal driver Wayan & family who has been accompanying Pam for 22 years and is a true friend. At night you can walk the grounds and enjoy all of the different activates such as their famous Beach BBQ and Fire Dance. The Nusa Dua hotel also has the Budaya Cultural Theatre which offers two different classic Balinese dance performances. The Nusa Dua has several restaurants, if you are up for a stroll under the stars along the beach you can also enjoy a wonderful dinner at many of the oceanfront restaurants. Also in Nusa Dua, you can try all different water sports, including parasailing, snorkeling, scuba diving, fishing or just a fun boat ride in a glass bottom boat.
One of our days in Nusa Dua we will travel to the Kuta Beach, which will include lots of shopping. Once we get there things are very, very economical! Pam can help you with bartering if necessary. There are great deals on beautiful handcrafted items. Kuta Beach is also one of the greatest surfing destinations in the world and home to an old surfer community which is nearby. After shopping we can head to the beach to cool off, maybe give surfing a try or die laughing while one of us try it! We will also be visiting the Celuk silver village, where they are world known for their handcrafted Balinese jewelry. Pam’s favorite shop is Suarti Silver. She has actually met Ms. Suarti and has been invited to her Ubud home. Her handcrafted silver jewelry is sold around the world. I know how you gals love your jewelry! Another favorite of Pam’s is taking a sunset tour to Tanah Lot (temple in the Sea). If you are into photography you will really enjoy this!
